COMLINK Access Software is for use on portable
computers in conjunction with NETLINK Network Transmission
Quality Testers. The Tester will normally be connected
to the user’s computer via a serial communications port so
that the user can initiate tests and view the results via
the computer. However, the user can also perform tests
separately with the NETLINK Tester, and connect it to the
computer later to upload and view the stored test results.
From
COMLINK Access main test window, the user can:
- Set-up NETLINK Test Parameters
- Perform tests and view results
- Upload results of previous results
- Browse results stored in the database
- Access COMLINK utilities (eg. autocalibrate).
The NETLINK Test Parameters which the user can program include:
- Test type
- Test impedance
- Test frequencies
- Noise filter
- Test duration
- Number of test calls
- Call back option
- Dialling options
- Test limits.
COMLINK Access automatically stores the user’s
currently selected Test Parameter preferences.
To perform a test, the user only needs to select the type
of test required, and enter the telephone number and/or details
of the service being tested (for subsequent identification
of the test results).
At the end of the test, COMLINK Access automatically
uploads the result from the NetLink instrument, stores it
in the result database, and displays the Test Result Summary
(i.e. outcome) to the user (e.g. test passed, test failed,
or the service being tested failed to meet specification).
The user can return to the Test Window
to perform further tests, or can select Details, to view the
test result details in graphical format for closer study.
The user can print the results of any
test, or copy and paste the results to other applications.
The user can also browse through all
the test results stored in the database. The number
of test results stored is only limited by the available disk
space (typically 512 bytes per result). The user can
select which results to view using a result filter:
- By origin or destination
- By test outcome
- By time and date of test.
The user can enter and view Test Notes for each test result.
By building up a history of previous test results and outcomes,
users can use COMLINK Access to quickly recall and
diagnose previously experienced network faults.
